What are the Qualities of a Good Foster Parent?

-   Have room in their hearts to love children, welcome them into their       
    home, and treat them like a member of the family
-   Are sensitive to the special needs of foster children, and can provide   
    them with a safe and nurturing home environment
-   Provide the children with structure, limits, and discipline, and have the
    maturity to implement these lovingly and consistently
-   Are flexible, willing to be trained, and committed to solving problems    
    and meeting the needs of each child

What are the Requirements to Become a Foster Parent?

-   Be at least 21 years of age
-   Must not have a criminal record (Felony)
-   Must have a valid California ID, Driver's License, or US Passport
-   Have sufficient family income before receiving reimbursement for         
     foster children's care
-   Can be single or married

What Steps Do I Take to Become a Foster Parent?

-   Attend an Orientation
-   Complete a Foster Parent Application Packet
-   Have Fingerprint and Criminal Record Clearances
-   Attend two 8-hour pre-certification training classes
