The Board of Directors is comprised of a group of professionals and community leaders who are dedicated to supporting OSWFFA in fulfilling our mission and values and raising awareness about foster care needs.
Cynthia R. Canul, Ph.D.
Board President
Executive Director-OSWFFA
Dr. Canul completed her education at Loyola Marymount University and Washington State University. She has lived in Orange County for the last twenty three years. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and has worked with children, families and adults in the community mental health and social services settings. She established OSWFFA in 2006, and has received numerous recognitions for her work in the community. She was named as Latina Business Woman of the Year and has been recognized by the County of Orange, City of La Habra, and the Senate. Dr. Canul has worked with various community organizations and provided information about the agency and linked the agency to local community organizations. She has been the President and CEO for the last eleven years and has a strong commitment to the community as evident by the numerous awards that she has received.
Elizabeth Conway
Board Member
Chief Financial Officer/Owner-Old Stump Brewery
Ms. Conway graduated with a BA from Loyola Marymount University and is currently the owner and CFO for Old Stump Brewery which opened in 2015. Their goal is to give back to the community to organizations such as OSW. She has lived in Orange County for ten years. She has owned a variety of service centered businesses over the last 20 years with a background in accounting and human resource. She has been an active and integral part of OSW’s board. “I have truly enjoyed being a part of such a great organization that has made such a positive impact on the kids and community”. Elizabeth has assisted with fundraising efforts and was responsible for finding an annual sponsor for the children’s Christmas party. She works with various local business and is trying to increase sponsorships.
Jasehi Angel Diaz

Property Manager-Allen Properties
Angel has lived in Orange County most of her life and attended Santa Ana High School and Santa Ana College in 2013. She describes herself as energetic, ambitious and loves helping children and the community. Angel was a former foster parent from 2007 to 2010 and has been a proud adoptive parent of her son who was originally a foster child from Our Small World. She has great management skills and is actively involved with the LGBTQ community in Orange County. She looks forward to assisting with recruitment of foster parents and fundraising for our children. She is also actively involved in many political movements and supports the local politicians who have helped the children and community in Santa Ana.
Dr. Rebecca Ortiz
Board Member
Business Owner- RISA Products
Tenure Professor- Santa Ana College
Dr. Ortiz is a developmental psychologist and researcher from Santa Ana College. She received her Ph.D. from UC Riverside in Psychology. Her academic background includes training in health psychology and multiculturalism. She has been recently made a tenure track professor at the college. She has an interest in community empowerment and family socialization processes in early childhood. She has an extensive research background and has several publications. She is a business owner, (RISA Products), El Sol Parent board member, Board of Trustees, Sage Hill School, and PTSA Member for Middle College High School. She currently lives in Santa Ana with her family. She has presented her research at North Carolina, UC Riverside, Washington D.C., and Cal State Long Beach.
Gay Olivos
Board Secretary/Treasurer
AT&T Hacemos
Ms. Olivos has been actively involved with OSWFFA, organizing the annual Holiday Toy Drive and other fundraising efforts. She also provides the children from OSW with scholarships from AT&T for school, computers, and any other technology that will assist with college. Gay was born and raised in Santa Ana, California and attended the local schools and has a strong sense of community. She has worked with Santa Ana Unified School District in the campus renovation for the Willard Intermediate School. Her work in the community also can be seen in her leadership tenure at El Sol Academy of the Arts and Science and also the president of AT&T HACEMOS. She is very involved in her community politics and supports many of the local politicians who are working for the community. She has recently completed her Paralegal degree and has a business management certificate and human resource certificate. Her goal is to help OSW and her community with her paralegal degree. Her ethics, integrity and commitment to the community over many years is evident in her role on OSWFFA board of directors secretary.
Dolores Mendoza

Owner-Accounting Solutions
Ms. Mendoza has been a consulting accountant in Orange County for the last 15 years. She also has an expertise in Human Resources. Dolores has also assisted in fundraising for the agency by recruiting sponsorships for holidays. Dolores was a director for various settings including a facility for elder adults. She loves children and loves working with Our Small World Agency. She has been the agency accountant for ten years.
Martin Meza
Board Member
Program Executive Manager-AT& T U-verse
Mr. Meza has been with AT&T for 18 years, and has played a key role in driving the success of various areas of operations within the company. He has been actively involved with AT&T’s Hispanic/Latino employee organization. HACEMOS, serving leadership roles at the local and national levels. He served two terms on the national board as Regional President West. His experience with marketing, diversity, and community involvement has made him a valuable member of the OSWFFA board of directors. Most recently he helped launch Direct TV for the West Region where he was responsible for merchandising, ordering, and sales execution. Martin is also very involved with the LGBTQ community in Orange County and supports our children by providing information on events and assisting with foster parent recruitment. He has provided assistance with technology to aid in advertisement of OSW.
